About Me

I grew up in beautiful, tiny Skaneateles, outside Syracuse, New York. I started modeling when I was 9 years old, developing a love of fashion at an early age. I was voted Best Dressed by my peers my senior year of high school. I was also a notorious flirt! From a young age I was a “leap before you look” type. Sometimes this had disastrous effects like being on a first name basis with the hospital’s emergency room (with the scars to prove it.) However, in social settings it meant I had no fear of failure. That, added to my genuine love of people, found me in situations where I would meet fascinating people and have wonderful experiences. For example, by the age 30 I had met the President, seen the Queen wave, been to a mass by the Pope and was invited to meet the King and Queen of Jordan.

After graduating high school I decided to become a Rotary exchange student and spent a year living in France with two different host families. I actually had the choice of living in Paris or Nantes. After a lot of thought I chose Nantes because if I really wanted to see how the French lived, Paris would be like coming to NYC and judging all of the US based on that city.

After an amazing year I returned and started college at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. I started as a Marine Biology major and ended up graduating with a BA in theatre acting and a BS in film scriptwriting. Yes, I know, quite the switch! While at UM I rowed on the crew team, competed in the Mr. UM pageant, acted in many plays, worked on the committee to bring bands, speakers and other guests to UM and began my writing career.

Upon graduation in 1999, I moved to New York City. A month after moving I landed a stint as a dancer for half of a season on MTV’s Global Groove. While it didn’t pay anything, it definitely opened some doors for me! For many years I worked the acting circuit appearing in many small things and building my social network. During this time I was working many odd jobs to pay the bills. One such job had me working at the World Trade Center on 9/11. Being at the epicenter of a worldwide paradigm shift was…..something.
As I was approaching 30 and wondering what my next life step I looked at what I was good at. On the advice of a trusted advisor and at the urging of many friends I started my own dating advice company called Hunt For Advice, the precursor to this site. Breaking down the whole “dating dance” was a fascinating and instructive process for me.
